Cheryl’s appointment as the Chamber’s President  in January of 2008 was just what the community needed—a high level of enthusiasm along with years of experience. Cheryl’s 15+ years of experience began with the Reno/Sparks (Nevada) Chamber both as a business owner member and chamber volunteer. Cheryl and her family moved to the Green Bay/De Pere area 8 years ago, and continued her chamber involvement, as a staff member for the GBACC for several years. During her tenure, she managed the Bay Area Community Health Partnership & Government Affairs for the Green Bay Area Chamber.

Since her appointment as President, Cheryl has worked diligently to establish the De Pere Area Chamber as a strong organization providing support to the business community. Cheryl works to keep De Pere’s Main Street Program vibrant and sees it as a vital cornerstone for the growth of De Pere. Main Street De Pere began in 1990 and has, by every definition, been a tremendous success.

Cheryl believes that a strong chamber/city partnership is a key to success and De Pere’s Chamber and City officials have a unique relationship working closely with the City of De Pere in many areas, but especially in planning and economic development. She says they both ask the same question of themselves, “what are we doing to make this area better today,” and often ask and answer it together.

When asked why the De Pere Area needs its own Chamber, Cheryl’s answer is straightforward, “Our organization’s sole purpose is growing, developing and enhancing the assets of our unique area.” Cheryl believes there is no one solution and no big fixes, and ascribes to the philosophy “for every solution there is a brand new set of problems”— just expect it. the challenges are many, but the opportunities in the community are boundless.

She is a married Mom of 2 (21 and 15) a techno-geek, an early adopter of technology, a sci-fi fan, an avid reader, and thinks Golden Retrievers are God’s answer for all the ills of the day.  Oh, and did we mention wine?
